Combine this great variety with the wonderful accommodations, excellent service, flexible schedule, and easy access from Bozeman, it is easy to see why the all-inclusive Healing Waters Lodge is a perennial favorite. Great dates are still available for the 2024 season.
Healing Waters Lodge has a reputation as a lodge that is comfortable and luxurious but never fussy. The food is fantastic (and easily customized for a specific dietary need), the staff are friendly and professional, and fishing opportunities, both in quality and diversity, are hard to rival. Lodge owner Steve Mackey and his team provide a memorable experience that brings guests back again and again.
The lodge is best accessed via Bozeman and guests can choose to rent a car, or a transfer service is available for a small fee. Once at the lodge, guests enjoy comfortable, air-conditioned, guest rooms with two queen size beds and en suite bathroom with walk in shower.
Memorable meals are enjoyed at the large dining table in the main lodge, with made-to-order breakfasts, “happy hour” appetizers, and delicious dinner options. Lunches consists of picnic style sandwiches and other options and are taken streamside.
Anglers who choose to travel light can enjoy the lodges full array of Orvis loaner gear, including waders, boots, rods, and reels. Your terminal tackle such as flies, leader, and tippet, is provided by your guide. Anglers are of course welcome to bring their own equipment as well.
Fishing can be done on a variety of waters, from famous Blue-Ribbon rivers to relatively unknown private spring creeks. Some will be drifted in hard-bottom boats or rafts, and others will be walk/wade trips. The wide variety of waters makes it possible to find the right option regardless of weather or fishing prowess. Float trips are usually on the Big Hole, Jefferson, and Madison rivers, or wading options the Ruby, Beaverhead, and several smaller private waters.
For non-angling companions, or guests that choose to take a break from the fantastic fishing, Twin Bridges is a very small but charming town, with a few shops and restaurants to explore. Further out, you have a great little gold rush town of Virginia City, and a super scenic drive down into Ennis, Montana; still small but a bit more bustling. If you request a day on the Madison River, then you will get a preview of all these towns as that is likely the route your guide would take.
Cell service and internet connections are strong throughout the property and even on many of the waters you will fish, so connectivity to home won’t be an issue.
In addition to the Healing Waters Lodge, Healing Waters Outfitters also operated the largest number of commercial permits for the famed Smith River Wilderness Float.
