Fish All Year: What Does That Mean?

When you hear the phrase “Fish All Year,” it probably sparks something different in everyone. For some, it’s simply encouragement—a reminder to keep your gear close and your calendar open. But for us, it’s more like a challenge. A puzzle. How do you fish all 12 months of the year without repeating a destination? It’s a tempting exercise that gets your mind spinning quickly.
Start thinking of your favorite fishing destinations or some of what comes next on your bucket list, and you’ll run into a dilemma—many popular fisheries around the world share the same seasons. Prime months start to stack up on top of one another, and suddenly you’re forced to choose: New Zealand or Argentina? Seychelles or the Bahamas?
What about those of us that have a passion for a specific type of fishing? Anglers that love chasing migratory tarpon in the late spring and early summer around South Florida – how can they experience similar sight-fishing or trophy-sized fish other times throughout the year? For trout anglers, where should they turn to extend their fishing season when their local waters or domestic options turn cold?
We solved for those scenarios, and more, by building the ultimate travel fishing calendar. One destination per month, no repeats. Admittedly, we bent the rules a few times. But that was part of the process. At its heart, Fish All Year is an exercise in creative planning and global thinking. It’s not about fishing every month (though we’d be thrilled if it worked out this way). It’s about knowing where to go when—whether you’re planning one trip this year or twelve.
Because the truth is, most anglers don’t need 12 trips. They need the right trip at the right time. And that’s what Fish All Year helps answer. What’s the best trip for you in April? Or December? Where should you go if you’ve only got one window to fish in August? These are the kinds of questions we’re helping solve.
And we didn’t stop at just one version of the year. We mapped out eight different ways to approach it—each based on different motivations, skill levels, and priorities. Think of them as eight lenses for planning your ideal fishing year:
For anglers who thrive on visual takes—skinny-water tailers, dry fly eats, and clear-water cruisers. Every month features a fishery that puts your eyes and reflexes to the test.
Destinations and seasons where newcomers can thrive. Whether it’s forgiving scenarios, cooperative fish, multiple chances at success, and/or patient guides, these trips are built for success from the first cast.
Traveling with friends, family, or a mixed-skill (or mixed-activity) group? These destinations combine strong fishing with excellent accommodations and other activities, ensuring everyone has a good time—angler or otherwise.
4. Easy Travel
For those who want to keep things simple. These picks prioritize convenient access, minimal time-zone shifts, and straightforward logistics without sacrificing quality fishing.
The wild, story-worthy stuff. Hard-to-reach places where few anglers tread. Expect logistical hurdles, but also solitude, unpressured fish, and unforgettable experiences.
This is for those that value quality over quantity. Expect demanding scenarios and discerning fish. From big browns to GTs and jungle dorado, we focus on fisheries with a legitimate shot at the biggest of their kind.
High-volume, high-action trips. If you’re the type who wants bent rods all day and double-digit days, this one’s for you. Think Argentina doves, but for fish.
A calendar built for the trout purist. One destination a month, across multiple continents, chasing trout wherever the fishing is best.
