Oct, 2014: Over 35 years ago, Frontiers teamed up with Jorge Trucco’s Patagonia Outfitters to provide the traveling angler access to world-class lodges on the best rivers with local guides. Jorge and his guides are passionate about providing a truly authentic Patagonian experience and it is one of the many reasons clients return to Argentina year after year.

During a recent visit to the Frontiers offices, Jorge sat down and shared details in a blog post about his exciting new property, Limay River Lodge, opening in December 2014. We encourage you to read more below:

By: Jorge Trucco, founder of Patagonia Outfitters and The Limay River Lodge

It’s interesting that over the years one realizes that they tend to repeat situations, decisions and passions. This has been indicative of my life with Patagonia Outfitters over the last 37 years. Many times, I found myself starting a new fishing project, something that nobody had done before. This applies to my latest new and ambitious goal: the first and only lodge on the prolific Middle Limay River. I am experiencing the same feelings of anxiety, expectation, hopes, and dreams as we create this new lodge which provides easy access to the most sought-after fishing for big resident rainbows and browns and even football shaped migratory brown trout in Patagonia. Once again, I’m doing something that’s never been done before, another new beginning!

I still remember when there were no fly fishing operations in Northern Patagonia in those early years of the 1970s when I started running the Patagonia Outfitters programs out of the village of San Martin de los Andes. As time went by, I was able to not only be a witness, but also a participant and a generator of the birth of nearly every single lodge in the San Martin region. I fished the nutrient rich Limay River at all different times during the last 11 years and stayed in tents or hostels in the nearest town. The fishing resource was always dependable, and many times, unbelievable!

Once more, I’m finding myself involved doing something that’s never been done before, another new beginning. Looking back, I can see this is a pattern of my life. The opening of the Limay River Lodge in December will be a milestone, a showpiece and a welcoming spot to come home to after an unbelievably successful fishing day on this unique river.

This new lodge will be represented by Patagonia Outfitters and Frontiers for the coming 2015 season. Please contact Hank Ingram who has fished the entire stretch with me at 1-800-245-1950 to request information or to confirm space for this new angling resource for the largest brown and rainbow trout in Patagonia.

I am thrilled to be involved in the inception of this project and I would love to share this fishing resource with the world!
