June, 2015: Frontiers supports the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP), which guarantees all Americans quality places to hunt and fish by uniting and amplifying partner organizations’ voices to strengthen federal policy and funding. 

I have been on the Board for a number of years and when discussing destination options for future board meetings, I suggested Pennsylvania to the President and CEO, Whit Fosburgh.  We have wonderful outdoor resources, but Pennsylvania is also facing conservation challenges with the huge proliferation of Marcellus shale drilling, other industry impacts and population growth.  Since many of our best limestone streams are essentially equidistant between Pittsburgh and Washington, DC, we decided to meet streamside to chat while stalking some trout.

The TRCP is also considering hosting some fishing excursions in 2016 and we brainstormed a few unique ideas.  Frontiers will continue to update our clientele about these trips.

All of us in fishing-related businesses and outdoor conservation organizations want the younger generation to follow in our footsteps with a passion for fly fishing and to protect our waters.  My stepson, Jeremy, has been with me for some fishing close to home, we have shared a couple of rafts in Montana and a flats skiff in the Bahamas.  Between collegiate lacrosse, a full-time summer job and a new love of shotgunning, his fishing opportunities have been limited lately.  With a rekindled interest, Jeremy joined Whit and I for two good days on the water with some great fish in the net.  It’s a nice warm-up for some fishing we have planned in Montana next month.
