July, 2014: Since my last visit to Grand Bahama Island, several new developments at all three of our preferred properties have occurred. For starters, the North Riding Point Club has a new manager and new skiffs. Deep Water Cay recently completed several major renovations and hired new on-site managers. H2O Bonefishing recently opened a brand new clubhouse that’s aptly named, Bones Bar. The latter part of June is typically a quiet travel time throughout the Bahamas even though the bonefishing can still be so darn good; particularly on this most northwestern island. For quite some time these lodges and other reliable sources have been touting the flourishing Grand Bahama permit fishery and that tarpon were rolling early on flat calm summer days. What better opportunity to get some quality face to face island time with lodge personnel by evening, and experience the lightly pressured and varied flats fishing of Grand Bahama by day.
