En Route — Santiago

I am taking my stepson, Jeremy on his first hunting trip to South America. We chose the Cordoba area of Argentina to experience some of the world’s best dove hunting, and we were invited to stalk stag in the nearby mountains. Getting here is easy with convenient connections through Buenos Aires or via Santiago, Chile. Travel times regardless of the gateway are virtually identical.

Our flights were on time; and due to the fact I was using frequent flyer free tickets, our layover in Santiago was longer than what most of our clients’ experience. We have a great tour photo5operator in Chile, Christian Ramcke, owner of Pionero Travel. We called our friend Christian, and had a delightful morning, which was great after a long overnight flight. After breakfast at the W Hotel, we stretched our legs through the historic downtown area of Santiago, founded in 1541 by the Spanish and with a population today of over 6 million.

If you are en route to one of the great Chile fishing lodges or connecting to hunting in Argentina and you have a long layover in Santiago, we can help you fill those hours with some great food, fresh air and interesting sights to see. If you want to relax for a couple of nights after the long flight, there is so much to do in the Santiago area — including the wine country!
