Oct, 2013: We were favorably impressed with The Missouri River Ranch. They offer wonderful accommodations based on single occupancy, a wonderful barn dining room and exceptional service and cuisine. Best of all, it is two minutes from the fly shops in Craig – making it super convenient to meet your guides.

We woke up to fog in the valley, which made it a beautiful morning as it burned off with wonderful Montana sunshine. The fishing remained very good – especially with nymphs.  The hatch was not as strong as yesterday, but we went “head hunting” in the afternoon and found several pod of rainbows taking small dries. While challenging, we had a lots of great takes and pulled in some nice bows!

Montana is wonderful in October, and I suggest our clients give serious consideration to trying the fishing out here at this time of the year. As they say…. Montana — “The Last Best Place!”
