A New Adventure: Heli-Skiing in Canada

I was recently invited by CMH Heli-Skiing to give their epic powder a try. What makes heli-skiing unique is that runs are accessed by helicopter instead of a ski lift. Skiers can reach higher parts of the mountain where the contours of the terrain are natural and the snow is light and effortless. The rush you get with heli-skiing is a completely different experience from a typical ski resort. If you’re not familiar with the sport, check out the video above that CMH created. It will definitely give you a sense of what I will be doing this week.

The morning began by meeting the President of CMH Heli-Skiing, Joe Flannery, in Banff, Canada. I was then transported to the company’s staging area where I boarded a helicopter heading to The Adamant Lodge. The one-hour flight took me deep into the Canadian Rockies and provided panoramic views of the whitest snow I have ever seen. My week is getting off to a good start.

As an avid skier, this was a new adventure both personally and for Frontiers. We know that many of our clients are interested in taking heli-skiing trips, and this is a perfect opportunity to get into the field and experience it for myself. I’m looking forward to introducing this new program to Frontiers when I return.
