January was a busy month for the Frontiers “road team” as we traveled across the country to meet new friends and reunite with clients at a few of our favorite shows. We kicked off the season by heading to Denver Fly Fishing Show, which was then quickly followed by a visit to the Dallas Safari Club Convention. Our final stop of the month was the Somerset Fly Fishing Show where we narrowly missed the infamous East Coast Blizzard.

Here are a few highlights from the shows:

Shortly after ringing in the New Year, we headed to the Denver Fly Fishing Show. It had been a number of years since we last exhibited in Denver, and we were thrilled to return this year. According to the show organizers, attendance was up over 20% compared to last year. Top destinations of interest included South America, Iceland, New Zealand and saltwater destinations worldwide.

In Dallas, we partnered with Argentina Outfitters to co-exhibit at the Dallas Safari Club Convention. While traditionally geared toward bird shooting and big game hunting, this year’s show seemed to touch on every aspects of the sporting world, including fishing.

Rounding out the month, we traveled to the Somerset Fly Fishing Show. Thank you to the many clients who braved the snowy conditions to visit our booth. In addition to exhibiting, we also introduced a new eco-initiative by providing 100% compostable cups for attendees purchasing beverages in the expo center and hotel lounge next door.

This year marked the inaugural launch of the Women in Fly Fishing Showcase at both the Denver and Somerset shows. Open to both women and men, the showcase offered a weekend of programs including presentations, learning and networking opportunities. Frontiers was proud to be one of the main sponsors, including a cocktail social at each location. Attendees had the opportunity to meet with all of the showcase sponsors, ask questions about gear and travel, and network with fellow anglers.
